I recently heard of the concept of Mimetic Desire on a podcast “the imperfects” – the idea that whether we like it or not, pure originality is impossible. All of us are being influenced by someone. The question is, are we proud of the someone currently influencing us, or does our influencer list need a shake-up?”
During Black Friday week or weeks 😜 – we are bombarded with quick deals and desire-weakening buys to make us feel something, feed a need or want, or potential to fill a desire that wasn’t ours.
Are you just being pulled into smart and tactical marketing and now desiring something that you don’t need nor probably wouldn’t have brought if it wasn’t on this flash sale or visually appealing to you?
How to stay grounded ~ during Black Friday week!
1. Make a list – we know a common excuse to shop hard in the Black Friday sales is Christmas presents. So whether it’s a gift for yourself (which we love) or others write them down and stick to it!
2. Self-check-in – financial stress is a huge part of mental stress. So before you purchase anything, do a self-check-in to see if this item going to put more financial pressure on you in the future?
3. Do you need it? Are you potentially just buying another version of something you already have or potentially adding to the next wardrobe cull or spring cleaning waist pile?!
4. We all have been guilty of not appreciating what is in front of us. So spend a day reorganising your wardrobe or going through your cupboards to potentially fall in love with some items you have may have forgotten about and connect to them again.
5. Turn off Instagram and Facebook notifications for this week – avoid being pulled into quick marketing and clickbait.

My additional thoughts: I’d also like to chat about the benefits of ice baths for your mental fitness. The main reason why we wanted to bring cold plunge into the Henosis house is to ground you, helping you mind focus on cantering yourselves during cycles of stress.
